As part of the event, you have the opportunity to choose from a range of optional health assessments as home blood tests. These tests are not essential, and there is absolutely no expectation that you have any or all of them. However, they can provide additional information that may help you better understand your health during the peri- and post-menopausal years. Some of these tests are not routinely offered through NHS general practice unless there is a specific clinical indication, but they can highlight areas where nutrition, exercise, sleep and other lifestyle changes may help optimise your health and wellbeing.

Simply choose your test and complete the order form. You will be sent a kit to take the blood as a finger prick test and envelope to post back. Please allow 2 weeks before the event to be sure to have your results on time to make the most of the opportunity to discuss them. If you order later you will still receive your results.

Nutritional Health Panel:

Ferritin, Vitamin B12, Vitamin D and Omega-3 Index

These tests assess nutritional status and can identify deficiencies or suboptimal levels that may contribute to symptoms such as fatigue, reduced energy, impaired concentration, low mood or poor recovery. Identifying low levels can help guide dietary changes, supplementation where appropriate, and other lifestyle strategies to support your overall health.

Hormone Panel:

Oestradiol (oestrogen) and Testosterone

Hormone levels fluctuate considerably during perimenopause and menopause, so blood tests do not always explain symptoms or determine treatment. However, in some circumstances they can provide useful additional information, particularly when considered alongside your symptoms, medical history and any current hormone replacement therapy (HRT). These results will always be interpreted within the wider clinical context rather than in isolation.

If you are taking a contraceptive, these tests will not be accurate.  These tests are best taken on day 3 of your cycle if you have one.

Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM)

You may also choose to wear a continuous glucose monitor for two weeks before the event. A CGM measures your glucose levels throughout the day and night, allowing you to see how your body responds to different foods, exercise, sleep, stress and daily routines. Many people find this a valuable way of understanding their own metabolism and identifying simple, personalised changes that can improve energy levels, appetite regulation and long-term metabolic health.

During the event, you will have the opportunity to review any results you choose to have with Dr Claire Gillvray and discuss what they may mean for you. Together, we will consider your results alongside your symptoms, lifestyle and personal goals, helping you decide whether any changes to nutrition, physical activity or other aspects of your health could be beneficial. The aim is not simply to identify abnormalities, but to empower you with information that supports healthier ageing and improved wellbeing.
